Thea Zalia - Crete

The home is located in Sellia, a small, quiet, and rural village with many older homes and plenty of traditional Cretan charm. People travel from all around to the village, to sample the home-cooked and locally sourced food at restaurants renowned for their hospitality and stunning views over Plakias Bay. 

A small mini market sells fresh locally grown vegetables with good wines and culinary staples. Larger supermarkets are a seven-minute drive away in Plakias, a quiet and peaceful town with good restaurants, bars and shops.

Clear blue seas and quiet beaches surround the area in abundance, all within a five-to-twenty-minute drive. 

Thea Zalia itself has been designed to shelter the pool and patio from the warm sirocco winds familiar to all the Greek islands.

Inside, the spacious living area has been thoughtfully furnished with comfortable seating for all guests and online digital TV channels.  The dining space is open plan and has a large table appropriate for both informal eating and fine dining.  It is perfect for celebratory meals. 

The main ensuite bedroom offers mountain and sea panoramic views from the super king-sized bed.  On clear days you can see the island of Gavdos, Europe’s most southerly island.

A second double bedroom has oak wood flooring and a king size bed and opens onto a terrace. A third bedroom, a twin, looks out over the village, nestled beneath the mountains. 

There is air conditioning throughout the house with a wood burning stove for the cooler months. 

Contemporary and fully equipped, the kitchen includes a capacious fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine and microwave.  From here, large sliding glass doors lead to a shaded outdoor dining space and fabulous swimming pool where the views open to the sea.

Ideal for both the confident swimmer and beginner, there is a shallow paddling area to the pool with safe graduated steps down to the main swimming area.

The space around the house has been landscaped and an ancient winnowing circle restored for stargazing as the sun goes down.

We have a local house manager who will be available for any issues you may come across during your stay.
